There was once a zen master and a boy that lived in a village…
One day the boy got a horse for his birthday.
Everyone in the village said, “Oh, how nice.”

The zen master replied, “We’ll see.”

Then one day the boy fell off the horse and broke his leg.
The village all said, “Oh, how horrible.”

The zen master replied, “We’ll see.”

Then one day a war broke out in the country and all able bodied young men were drafted to serve in the army. But since the boy could not walk he was not drafted.
The village said, “Oh how lucky is he!”

The zen master replied, “We’ll see.”

We’ll see….
