I love qoutables.
I love typography.
Which means I love this piece by Andy Mangold.
I had to crop out the pictures ’cause my html coding restricts certain picture size, so definitely go to his site to view the full pics.
Ironically this project was to showcase a new font/typeface, Clarendon, but the writing in the journals overshadows any of that. I dont know for sure if that was the true intention, only the artist can truly know that, but sometimes the final product is not the embodiment of your original ambitions, but is still provocative and ingenious nonetheless. The final product is what the public is only seeing, but like the “tip of the iceberg” cliche, there was a long generated process that no one else knows but the artist and the fact that you can accomplish something that you never intended is sometimes the most gratifying experience. Now this may not be the case with this specific project, but its something that has been on my mind for a while and seeing this work today just reminded me even more of it.
Just because you didn’t do what you set out to do, that fact does not discount your effort. In fact it may be for the better.
But I digress,
Andy Mangold has some cool stuff.

This is the second of my study models, and the last before I made my final one. I added program (buildings) and some representations of trees in the tower. My general concept got thrown out the proverbial window and when I confronted my professor about this he just said to run with it. So I did. You can see from up top that the buildings opposite the tower resemble a birds wing, as I stacked floors on top of each other sandwiched by cantilevered balconys. I also got rid of the structure underneath he buildings to make space for parking.

I dont know what to compare snow to. You know, a metaphor for it. Cause its beautiful when it first comes down. Its pure untouched stage. Its only lovely when your inside in a nice heated house with a steaming cup of coffee looking out your window into the snowy wonderland that you are safe from inside your shelter. But then you have to drive in it (I have a job interview today and I didnt even clear snow off my car), and then it gets all dirty and brown it fucks up your shoes, then it melts and becomes ice and is a danger to senior citizens and shit. Thinking about it I really dont like snow.
Does the place I live in NYC now, even considered a part of NYC? I used to be in Crown Heights which is in the heart of Brooklyn and as we all know Brooklyn is the meat and potatoes of NYC while Manhattan is just the appetizer. But in Queens where I live now I have to take the 7 train to the VERY LAST stop (Main Street, Flushing) then I have to get on the 20A Bus and take that to the VERY LAST stop to College Point Blvd. I feel like I live in fucking upstate New York cause Im so far from everything.

Straight up, the best album I have listened to since “The Cool” by Mr. Fiasco. I just only downloaded this a week ago and I just bought the actually CD yesterday. I dont buy that many actually albums, but this shit is straight up classic stuff had to go out and buy the actually thing. “Dance on Glass”, “Move”, and “Gettin Up” are pure IPod battery killers. To be truthful, I still haven’t listened to the whole album thoroughly because of those three joints. But “We Fight We Love’ featuring Raphael Saadiq and “Life is Better” featuring Norah Jones are terrific songs too. Its nice to have a LP that you can just listen and vibe too, without having the beat’s bass knock the concentration out of you.
I never got into any of the Final Fantasy stuff. I actually never really got into video games. But I think I might invest in a PS3 just for this… and I know that these arent real-time graphics but damn…
I have re-watched this about 23 times now…

Vodpod videos no longer available.
Saw this over at NOTCOT which then linked me to Smelly Cat (smelllllllllllly cat! Phoebe Buffay = <3, lol and what a great name for a blog no? too bad its a Brazilian blog and I dont understand Portuguese…) This video was made by students at Les Gobelins, the whole time I was watching it Snoop Dog’s Sexual Eruption played in my head, and the ending just clinches it. Its basically about casual sex and love pills, always the great topics.
Your bitch don’t really got no ass, she just poked it out…
lol at the bitches in the video…
For nostalgia’s sake =)
